Religion and Science Group

How do religion and science relate to and impact one another? Living in a highly scientific and technological world, what does our faith have to say to this world? And what does science have to say to people of faith? Readings for the fall will come from Technology and Religion: Remaining Human in a Co-created World by Noreen Herzfeld, professor of theology and computer science at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. Examining technologies which include artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, cyborgian enhancement, and our love affair with cyberspace, in conjunction with the principles of the three Abrahamic religions, Professor Nerzfeld raises this question: Does technology have the ability to change us and the way we approach religion and spirituality? The Religion and Science Group, led by Dr. Jim Burns, meets twice a month from 7 to 8:15 p.m. in the church parlor.
